New year- so far so good. I didn’t go out New Years Eve, but instead rang it in with the company of a good friend. Here’s to hoping, for the both of us, that 2012 is a little easier on us. I’ve surprised myself by running on the treadmill almost every day for about 15 minutes and I’ve been eating fairly well. Those were two things I really wanted to take seriously, and I have. Running has also brought to my attention that my knee didn’t recover as well as I thought during physical therapy last year. So, depending on how the next couple of days go, I’ll probably have to make an appointment with my orthopaedic. I’d like to be able to start running outside, but I remembered him saying something about how bad concrete is for your joints.

Yesterday I was sick with what felt like a 24 hour bug, so I only ran for ten minutes and ate some pretty disgusting canned chicken noodle soup (at least it was low sodium) and soaked in a hot bubble bath for almost an hour. Gross, but I was finally relaxed. I’ve been told over and over that stress is the worst thing for your immune system ever, so I’d like to think that my lazy and relaxed Tuesday had to do with my quick recovery.

I have no idea what happened to Iowa’s winters, but its seriously almost 50 degrees outside and we’ve hardly had any snowfall or bitterly cold days. We weren’t complaining over outdoor lunch and Newcastles on the porch today.

I have no resolutions, only short term goals and good habits this year. I think it’ll work.
